Create like an artist

Everybody is creative, and we don't have to be artists to create like one

The creative act is more than about creating a song, a dance movement or a piece of writing. It doesn't have to be about making a product that can be looked at, recorded or sold. It is much more profound than anything related to the conventional definition of art.

Creativity is about a way of engaging with the world. It's a way of living. Everybody is creative, and we don't have to be artists to create like one.

To create is simply to enter a state of being. Of being bold, curious, playful and experimental. Of actively seeking new experiences, ideas or interpretations. Those that increase our capacity to vibe with life, to feel both of its ups and downs more intensely, to love with less fear, to act with less hesitation and to laugh a bit louder at the struggles of being human.

There is no limit to what can be considered creative. They could be anything - like new stories to explain the world, new identities to adapt, new challenges to overcome or new ideas to be obsessed about. Could be jokes (especially jokes), new way to avoid traffic jam or a surprise catch-up call with old friends. Simply anything that expands our life and gives meaning to what's in it.

When a person creates, he is fueled by hunger. A hunger to see beautiful things, hear beautiful sounds, feel deeper sensations. This is an incredible source of fuel. It allows that person to seek beauty and richness in almost anything life has to offer - including things that may appear uninteresting or unimportant at the first glance.

This is also why it's usually fun and exciting to be around creative people. They can observe things nobody could, say things nobody dares, do stuffs nobody ever tried. Creativity for them isn't a sacred act that needs to be initiated by some mysterious rituals, it's just daily practice. They are just highly motivated by an insatiable hunger to explore and expand; by an obsession with life itself.

Like it or not, all of us are already active participants in an ongoing process of creation. The universe has never been a constant; everything is always changing and adapting, including us. From this perspective, creatvity is an embracement of the universe itself, because it is all about seeking what is new and pushing boundaries of what is familiar. To create is to be in sync with how the universe works.

Being creative is not something only reserved for a talented few, but a skill that all of us should cultivate - if we want to thrive and find meanings in this world.
